Turkish trio consisting of guitarist Onder Focan, bass player Ozan Musluoglu and the readers Tice Cin (English) and Dila Vardar (Turkish) join forces in pairing literature and music from the Turkish and Anatolian tradition. Reciting internationally recognised Turkish poets like Nazim Hikmet, A. Muhip Diranas, and Bedri Rahmi Eyuboglu, poems will be spoken in original language and translated into English by North London based Tice Cin who has previously completed poetry commissions by St Paul’s Cathedral and Apples and Snakes. Musical composition will be jazz based, from standards to Turkish arrangements. Onder Focan is known through his work with ‘Funkbook a La Turc’ and Ozan Musluoglu is a full time member of the Turkish National Television Jazz Orchestra as well as a recording artist with multiple albums and producer.

Önder Focan started his music career by playing mandolin at the age of 8. He switched to guitar at 15 and concentrated on jazz in the year 1975. Being mainly self-taught, he has become a jazz musician most sought after as a guitarist, player, composer-arranger and lyrics writer.

Focan improved his skills in music and teaching by attending seminars by IAJE (International Association for Jazz Musicians). From 1996 to 1999, he conducted Jazz Ensemble courses at the Istanbul Academy. In 1997, he performed in the Guitar Night that was organized by MIDEM (Marché International du Disque et de l’Edition Musicale) with 11 international guitarists representing Istanbul Culture and Arts Fund (IKSV).

Born in Germany, Ozan Musluoglu started playing bass guitar at the age of sixteen. He graduated from the Music Department at Bilgi University in Istanbul. During his studies, he has participated in many workshops with well-known bass players like Marc Johnson, David Friesen, Dominique Lemerle and Robert Balzar.
